Maintenance
The turbine requires an annual service, which must be carried out by trained staff. The servicing is straightforward, requiring a number of bearings to be greased and slip rings polished. The important part is an inspection of the turbine for any wear and tear.
Some turbines have hinged towers which are lowered to the ground to gain access to the turbine hub.
The Endurance Wind turbines have a service platform just below the hub and the maintenance work is done with the turbine in situ.
