The Tradewind Turbine uses vertically mounted sails to harness wind power and produce energy. The company is working with the Ministry of Defence to reduce reliance on diesel generators by installing transportable versions of the turbine on temporary military bases around the world. The company is based near Exeter. |

Gaia-Wind has been established in Denmark for over 20 years. In November 2010 it opened an operation in Glasgow to manufacture and distribute its wind turbines within the UK and elsewhere. |
100kW
This is an excellent wind turbine from Northern Power Systems. It was originally developed with NASA and is designed for remote sites. It has an innovative gearless ‘permanent magnet drive technology’, which minimises noise. It is optimised for low wind speeds and has a low height profile.
50kW
Aeolus Power (Wind-Energy) Limited is one of only four UK distributors for the Endurance Wind Power E-3120, 50kW wind turbines. Kevin Heaney, VP Worldwide Sales & Marketing of Endurance Wind Power said, “After a close review of over forty applicants, we feel we have engaged the very best distributors.” Aeolus Power (Wind-Energy) Limited is proud to be a UK distributor, supplier and installer of this excellent wind turbine which has state-of-the-art features for safety, efficiency, reliability and quietness of operation.
The Endurance Wind Power 50kW’s approximate power output at a wind speed of 6 m/s (at hub height) is 160,000 kWh per annum This wind turbine is ideal for dairy farming, arable farms and mixed farming - indeed a 50kW can be sited in most windy fields. As a down-wind turbine it easily catches the wind and is 25% more efficient than others in its class. It has a 4-year payback period at 6 m/s and the income rate is guaranteed under the FiT scheme for 20 years. It represents an excellent return on investment.
We offer a range of varied, flexible financial schemes for those who wish to site one or more of the Endurance Wind Power E-3-120, 50kW turbines on their land (our Flex 4 Financial Scheme).
15kW
Tradewind Turbines use sail-cloth and a yacht rigging type construction which allows electricity production even at low wind speeds. At high wind speeds the sails furl, reducing side loads and innovative digital control systems ensure high levels of reliability and safety. A highly efficient power management technology stores the energy in batteries or feeds it into the grid. Tradewind Turbines can be permanently installed or the transportable model can be easily shipped and installed where power is needed.
11kW
The Gaia-Wind 133-11kW turbine has a generous swept area of 133m² and the more wind a turbine captures in the swept area, the more energy it generates. The turbine has a patented ‘teeter’ hub which allows the two oversized blades (or one long blade) to rotate over a small angle. This prevents the most damaging turbulent loads from entering the main shaft. The blade tips rotate at a constant speed and its 2 blade construction also reduces shadow flicker and noise levels. The Gaia-Wind turbine was developed in Denmark, has been operational since 1993 and is accredited under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.
10kW
The Xzeres 442SR has a large swept area, designed to positively affect energy production. The company offers a 10 year warranty on its turbine which has CE certification and so meets EU health, safety and environmental requirements. The 442SR is suitable for use on farms, by communities or businesses, and it can be grid connected or stand alone. Its simple design limits moving parts to minimise service and maintenance costs.
5kW
The Evance R9000 turbine is specifically designed to capture more energy at lower wind speeds making it the most efficient 5kW turbine available. The R9000 uses a patented Reactive Pitch™ technology which enables continuous optimum blade position for wind collection and the patented high-efficiency generator converts up to 96% of the energy captured into useful electricity. Its reliability is validated by several hundred existing installations averaging >99% up time.
Aeolus Power (Wind-Energy) Limited stocks, supplies, installs and maintains the Evance R9000 turbines across the UK. This reliable 5kW wind turbine is suitable for both farming and domestic use and is ideal for sheep farmers, small farms and home owners.
We are delighted to announce that in July 2010 the Evance R9000 received MCS accreditation – the first sub 10kW wind turbine to do so!
The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is an independent scheme that certifies microgeneration products and installers in accordance with consistent standards. It is designed to evaluate microgeneration products and installers against robust criteria providing greater protection for consumers.
The MCS is the only certification scheme to cover all microgeneration products and services, and has support from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, industry and non-governmental groups as a prime method for making a substantial contribution to cutting the UK's dependency on fossil fuels and carbon dioxide emissions.
The Evance R9000, 5kW wind turbine is eligible for the Feed in Tariff (FiT) scheme.
